There’s a feeling inside
That you can’t quite explain
You can’t quite confide
For you cannot be sure
If this something inside
Is something that’s good
Or even is you
For who’s to say what’s really true?
But there’s a lightness inside
And it comes from the place
It comes from the rush
Of running life’s race
When you fly past the trees
And it’s not for the praise
It’s the feeling you get
That feeling of grace.
There’s a peace that’s inside
And it feels so true
It feels so calm
Like the big ocean blue
And in this calm place
There’s a stillness that says
That all that you need
Lies within your own head.
There’s a darkness inside
And it’s so hard to face
It leeches your soul
And calls from your grave
The things that you fear
That keep you in place
That keep you so trapped
That keep you enslaved.
There’s a sadness inside
It sits on your heart
It stifles your smile
And stymies your art
All that you’ve lost
That you had at the start
You grieve that it’s gone
And feel useless apart.
But there’s so much inside
It’s impossible to see
All that you are
And all you may be.
It’s so hard to feel
When you can’t even breathe
But whatever you are,
It’s a good way to be.
